Dr. Zaihan Rashid

Dr. Zaihan Rashid is a member of the Durham Islamic community and has lived there for 19 years. He is a medical doctor, specializing in general surgery. As part of Islamic dawah activities, he has been working with various Islamic organizations and Masajids in GTA (Greater Toronto Area) for over 15 years.
Dr. Rashid’s interests are education for parents, young adults, children and seniors regarding family relationship improvement that includes but not limited to parenting, spousal relationship, youth leadership development etc. He has relied on Islamic methods from the Quran and prophetic traditions as well as utilization of research based modern science and academia. He also has deep interests and engagement in invitation to Islam via dawah work and awareness of emotional and physical health. He has been delivering Khutbas to the local Masajids, Oshawa University students and Durham College for over 12 years. He was also associated with the Muslim Parents of Durham organization in the Durham region.

Dr. Rashid is the outreach coordinator for Oshawa Islamic center in Oshawa and Islamic center of Clarington in Courtice, ON. He regularly teaches children and youth at Islamic Centers in the Durham region and has been instrumental in dialogues with non-Muslims at the masjid and street level as well as interfaith dialogues. He has a role in the Islamic Education and Research academy (IERA), a Dawah organization. He is married and lives in Bowmanville. He has 2 grown up children.
